.In Perfectperformance, Emirates Skyline, Scriptwriter and Familiar Territory, Godolphin have a quartet of lightly raced & therefore unexposed older horses that have presumably been kept in training for more than helping to feed the roses.
Scriptwriter has looked to have plenty of ability on a couple of occasions but has also looked less than straight-forward. He disappointed at Ascot. His York defeat of Topatoo is eye-catching though.
Emirates Skyline looks pretty solid and perhaps the softening ground at Ascot was against him. Won well at York previously. He looks high enough in the weights though.
Perfectperformance was top-class as a 2yo before losing his way. If he came back to his best form he'd be a good thing, but that looks a pretty big "IF"
Familiar Territory has probably achieved the least of the 4 in the formbook and hasn't set any clocks alight either. However, he's a good looking sort who might just be coming to himself now ,and he won snuggly enough on his seasonal debut (well-backed to do so) off a mark of 95. He looks the most likely to have been laid out for this.
I've snaffled the few quid on here that was available at around 20 about Familiar Territory, but I'll probably have a proper bet once the stable's intentions are clearer. Further behind him that day was Collateral Damage.
If you take out his runs on quicker ground, and on the AW at Kempton, his last 10 starts read 1-5-3-6-2-3-2-11-5-3, and his runs on soft or heavy ground just read more impressively - 8 starts 7 placed efforts 1 of which a win.
Add to this the form of the yard, he has to enter calculations. Even though he's yet to run over this trip on soft ground, he has ran well in defeat in the Zetland, where staying on strongly, and in the Chester handicap behind Charlie Tokyo.
Therefore, feel that these two hold a chance of keeping the Cup in the North......
