"I have decided to hold fire on any major Ante-Post betting for the WHOLE flat season to see if my profits increase or decrease.
Having had a run of 'bad luck' with lame/ill horses close to (or in some cases on the morning of) big races last jumps season
I decided to try a little experiment to see how things work out.
I will undoubtedly miss the sheer joy (and slight smugness) of bagging a 25/1 winner of a large handicap who has just bolted up at single figures, but I'm certain I will not miss the annoyance of seeing a horses chance ruined by either an over zealous watering policy or a ridiculous draw bias that suddenly crops up.
As always some of my Royal Ascot bets will be placed literally seconds before the gates open, and a few after they have opened, but i will post an honest analysis of how the week went overall.
Suffice to say it will not live up to last year, as a little wager on Baddam @ 50's the night before set my week up and i don't think I'll be that lucky this time around.
If the ground is fast, Desert Lord looks overpriced to me in the King's Stand and, although it's hard for 3yo's in sprints, Enticing & Beauty Is Truth would also come into it. Obviously there's been a lot of money for Miss Andretti and she looks very solid.
Cockney Rebel is still not getting enough credit. - Excellent Art might be best alternative but St.James's Palace probably a no bet race for me.
Queen Anne revolves around George but won't desert Red Evie after she's been so good to me in Matron & Lockinge. As a dual G1 winner feel she's a better alternative than Cesare (stepping up massively in class) or Ramonti (failed in G1 outside Italy before and not convinced he can reverse form). Hopefully she'll drift on the day.
Have a couple in mind for Ascot Stakes, although not sure I'll be getting a great price about one of them in particular.
Will definitely be backing Intrepid Jack & also keen on two of plat's - Royal Oath & King Of Argos. Waiting for Hunt Cup draw before getting involved any further. Got a lot other fancies, mainly on races not priced up yet. Unfortunately missed the fancy prices on Manduro . Also keen to take on Yeats but not sure what with and also interested in the German filly Mi Emma.
