Here are my findings - 12 of last 18 had won a Grp 1 Grp 2 race, such horses running are -
Bentley Biscuit, Conquest, Desert Lord, Hamoody, Magnus, Miss Andretti, Moss Vale, Beauty Is Truth, The Tatling, Takeover Target, Pivotal Point.
Of those I think a line can be put through The Tatling, Pivotal Point, Conquest and Hamoody.
Nick Mordin highlighted in the Weekender that the Aussies to have won at Royal Ascot have come off a 10 week or more break and Miss Andretti is the only one to fill this criteria, she has won 3 Group 1's in a row and broken the track records in 2 of those.
Takeover Target won this same race last year carrying 3lbs more, so a bold defence is expected, why should any of those behind last year reverse placings?
Bentley Biscuit would appear to appreciate further and does not have a 5f victory to his name.
My final shortlist in order of preference - Miss Andretti, Magnus, Takeover Target, Beauty Is Truth, Desert Lord. i really like Manduro in the Prince of Wales....he's grown up so much mentally this season so was keen to see Turtle Bowl hopefully run a decent race in the Queen Anne and frank the form...then I noticed Racinger has beaten him twice this season.
I've followed Benbaun since his first win (a chance bet!)and in hammering Moss Vale over in Ireland over 6f (!) you have to presume that he has improved this year. He always used to get caught at 6f! As he only needs to improve a nose, then he's a great value bet at 10/11s... and it would make my week if he did.
I can't get away from Cesare's chances and will be massively disappointed if he doesn't go close, it's all about that last run; suggested he's improved to become top class imo. You don't canter past horses of the quality he did without being a group 1 horse and begrudgingly (as his horses are always annoyingly over bet, and demand opposing!) I respect Fanshawe here
I know would like the better ground over here rather than that muck he's been running in so he might be able to turn around those two tight defeats he suffered to Racinger. he's been brought right back to his very best by Rohaut but Manduro is different class these days.
then you have to consider Racinger getting his throat cut if he goes to the front...maybe Ramonti or Notability taking him on?? At the bigger price i might plump for Turtle Bowl and Peslier..."
