".....She's yet to win over this mile trip, and she could have had an easier assignment than this in trying to break her duck. However, she's yet to have her ground over this trip, and this is also the first time she's ran against her own sex. Form figures on good or quicker read 2113626 and she does deserve a mention now that the ground is in her favour and she's a best priced 16/1 which is a very fair price, 4/1 to place on Betfair is a great price.
Sabana Perdida Another who needs quick ground, yet she had to drop down to a few classes to get back into the winning groove, and once back in Group company was soon found out, and that can be expected again today. Satwa Queen id a is a very classy mare, yet it does come as a surprise to see her raced over one mile this late in her career, even though it is at Royal Ascot. As good as her form is over 1m2f, its hard to envisage her havving the pace of some of these, and has to be overlooked and deserves to go unbacked at the quoted 7/2.
Betfred Mile form reads well for Bahia Breeze and she's an ultra consistent mare. Even though she'll find it difficult to win, there shouldn't be much between her and Wasseema. Wasseema was beaten fair and square at Lingfield by Wake Up Maggie, yet her three year old form gives backers hope, especially a c&d win. Flashy Wings ran a decent enough race in Dubai, yet is held by Nannina on c&d form, and it's hard to envisage a reason why that form can be reversed. Nannina and Echelon are rightly joint favs. Nannina is a Fillies Mile winner, as well as a good second in the Falmouth. Following a pipe opener behind Echelon last time out, she should be spot on for today. However, Sir Michael Stoute, Kerring McEvoy and Echelon may have differen ideas. An improving mare with two Group 3s already to her name this season, she should cope with this drop back in trip, and a reproduction of her effort behind Soviet Song is the formline to focus on if backing here..Tariq was fancied to give Dutch Art a good run for his money in the Greenham but ran no sort of race and he followed up in similar fashion in the French 2000 Guineas.
The Peter Chapple-Hyam yard were under a cloud at the time and even Dutch Art ran below form in a race that fell right into the hands of the front running Major Cadeaux.
Tariq bounced back to form in the King Charles II Stakes at Newmarket comfortably beating the useful Mr Napper Tandy. The King Charles II stakes has proven in be the best trial for the Jersey in recent years with 3 winners in the last 6 years running in that race LTO. He also comes here without the penalty which has proved vital in recent years with 12 of the last 14 winners not carrying a penalty. Another stat in his favour is that 11 of the last 12 winners finished in the first four LTO (Tariq finished 1st).
On the subject of stats looking through the race only once since 1991 has the winner previously raced in the English 2000 Guineas. In that period there were 5 beaten favourites who had come into the Jersey off the back of a run in the Classic. Asset and Red Clubs tried their chances last year but finished 2nd and 6th respectively. This stat would cast doubt on the chances of Major Cadeaux, US Ranger and Strategic Prince.....
