Here
are the best
bets for Royal
Ascot. day 1-
LAY Gorgeous George in the
queen Anne ( if
my part of the
country is
anything to go
by, a lot of
rain is heading
down south,
which is another
question mark to
put against him)
he cant lay
himself but
doesn't mean we
cant do it to
him:-)
Back excellent art in the St James palace (softish ground would go against my original selection Dutch art, plus his price is prob too short now) cockney rebel MUST be taken on back river proud if he turns up in the Coventry. originally i liked pencil hill, but after seeing this monster sluice up at newbury yesterday i cant have anything else, but its a big if that he will turn up, if he doesn't becomes a lot more random, pencil hill, bobs surprise and luck money would all enter the mix, with the o'brien hype horse making the market for everything else (probably needs further). Day 2- back tariq in jersey- looks ideal type for the race. also won the same race last time out that jeremy won before going on to win the jersey last year. princess of Wales stakes looks a tricky conundrum, but I'm going for manduro.
Back regal step in Queen Mary Stakes, works with older sprinters apparently, and with so many top yards represented will hopefully get a decent price.
Day 3- back winker Watson in the Norfolk, bit of a no brainer this one considering the trainers record with two year olds in royal ascot. Back Colorado rapid in the Britannia. Mark Johnstons royal ascot record speaks for itself. also back the same stables Boscobel in the King George v stakes. His hamilton win was breathtaking, admittedly against mediocre opposition.
i wont bore you all to death with what i intend to do on day 5 and 6, but suffice to say that fleeting spirit and amadeus wolf should not be opposed its supposed to be one of the highlights of the flat season, can honestly say there is not a race a can get excited about never mind a horse, had a few very speculative invests but nothing worth mentioning, its wait and see for me, cherry mix in the GC is interesting but has to be a lay at current price.
