Inter Milan vs Juventus
" Two Italian giants, Inter Milan and Juventus
will be competing against each other for a Coppa Italia final
place on Thursday evening at San Siro Stadium in the second leg
of the TIM Cup semi-final. The Turin club are without Italy international
Mauro Camoranesi who has a knee problem but Alessandro Del Piero
is set to return to partner David Trezeguet up front after missing
the 0-4 defeat against Roma last weekend through injury. Juve
boss Marcelo Lippi must do without Birindelli and Iuliano who
are still injured, however the rest of the team should be made
of first team players to try and get a morale boosting win for
the Bianconeris. Inter Mlan are favourites to meet Lazio in the
final after their first leg 2-2 draw at Turin last week. However,
prior to this encounter, Inter coach Alberto Zaccheroni will have
to start without several key players. The host will be without
Francesco Coco, Matias Jesus Almeyda,Jeremie Brechet and Carlos
Alberto Gamarra who are all out injured while Francesco Toldo,
Marco Materazzi and Mohammed Kallon are serving their respective
suspension periods. Zaccheroni will have to reshuffle Inter's
defence with Cordoba, Adani and Cannavaro playing in front of
Fontana in between the post while Christian Vieri and Adriano
should be leading Inter's attack. Inter Milan see the Coppa Italia
as an important objective especially since ther Serie-A title
challenge are more or less vanished and they are out of the Champions
League after the round robin matches. Zaccheroni will therefore
field the deadly duo Vieri-Adriano up-front in an attempt to open
up Juve's defence which lately has been incredibly bad. The Coppa
Italia was just the third objective for Juventus at the start
of the season, but the latest debacle against Roma in Serie A
might have pushed the importance of such a trophy for the bianconeri.
The Tuscan coach is in fact expected to field first team players
to improve his side's chances of qualifying to the next round.
Both teams were tied 2-2 last week after the first semi-final
match played at Delle Alpi Stadium with Juventus scoring the late
equalizer. With that score, "The Old Lady" will need to win or
at least finish the match with a 3-3 draw should they intend to
play in the final against Lazio. With Vieri scoring two goals
against Sampdoria during his return to the Milan club, expect
Juventus'defence having a difficult time preventing the Italian
international from scoring and Inter Milan to qualify for the
finals with a close win."
