Siena vs Perugia
Mid-table Siena take on draw specialist Perugia
at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday eveing for their 17th Serie-A
league match. Siena looks set to be one of the surprise package
this season, occupying 12th spot in the league standings, second
best amongst three newly promoted clubs from Serie-B last season.
Most of Siena's success was because of their impressive home form
which now stands at 4-2-2, netting 14 goals and only conceeding
4 at the back. Their last home match was a huge success, a 4-0
thrashing of Modena. Siena on-loan striker Nicola Ventola will
be hoping to start after netting two late goals against Juventus
in their previous match as Enrico Chiesa is still not match fit.
Former Perugia winger Konstantinos Loumpoutis may be included
in the starting line-up to face his former employer after making
a move to Siena earlier this month. Andrea Ardito is still sidelined
with a cruciate knee ligament injury. Apart from that, Siena's
boss Giuseppe Papadopulo should be using the same formation that
played agaist Juventus last week. Eusebio Di Francesco is set
to make his debut for Perugia at Siena on Saturday evening after
joining the club from Ancona recently. The presence of Di Francesco
would be the most suitable replacement for Nigerian Christian
Obodo who appeared to be off-form during their midweek Coppa Italia
defeat to the hand of Juventus.
Veteran Fabrizio Ravanelli could also debutise for
Perugia after joining the club from Derby County this month. The
Grifoni's boss Serse Cosmi is fully aware of the pressure from
the chairman that another bad result for the club could see Cosmi
lose his job. Perugia and Ancona are the only club yet to register
any win this season. With Siena having such impressive form recently,
expect The Tuscans to grab full points in front of their home
crowds this evening.
