".....This season we have made some nice moves in the draft and free agency finally getting a number 1 wr in the 1st rd which we have wanted for many years now, bowe reminds me of a hines ward terrel owens kind of player, He doesnt mind going across the field, his yards after catch are very good and his blocking skills are also very good.
Donnie edwards was another nice pickup as this bloke can tackle and has the speed to do well in our cover 2 defence, my concern is that he is aging. We have picked up a left tackle though i dont know much about him hoping he can at least block abit for lj and the quaterbacks blind side.
This year We have some controversay at qb with it looking like brodie croyle our 3rd rd pick from last year getting the nod, now we have traded green. If this happends i would expect the chiefs to go no better than 8-8 7-9. With the off line not being as good anymore i can see him spending a lot of time on the floor and also all the pressure will be on larry johnson to carry us through.
I expect the chiefs defence to improve again this season, with 2 good defensvie ends and 2 good but aging cornerbacks, with a very fast linebacking corps.
The bad part for the chiefs defence is the 1st 4 games which j.allen will be banned for, he really has been a masssive player for the chiefs on defence the last couple of years and that will hurt us bad this season, So if we get off to a bad start it could be a long season.
Now if d.huard gets the start at qb chiefs could get to 9-7 10-6 he played really well when he was in last season and it will stop opposing teams stacking 8 in the box against lj, knowing now that huard can actually throw the ball and hopefully we have a wr who can take some coverage away.
The scehdule not too bad and depending on who wins the qb situatuion could depend on if the chiefs have a winning year or not.
My conclussion is the chiefs are not worth betting this year as whoever starts at qb i dont think we will get a good enough winning record to make it into the playoffs in an always tricky afc.
all im hoping for is a nice few wins and hopefully see some improvement that will give me confidence for future seasons.Finished 6-10 last year but this team is an awful lot better than that.
Defense will be top 10 again, should have some semblance of a pass rush this year with hopefully Erasmus James back from serious knee injury allowing Kenechie Udeze to go back to LE where he belongs. Last years 4th round pick Ray Edwards has been doing really well in the offseason too and may compete to start or at very least play a lot as a situational pass rusher.
Assuming Antoine Winfield comes back for training camp and with the emergence of Cedric Griffin into a very decent player, the drafting of Marcus McCauley and return from injury of Devonte Edwards, we can easily go 4 deep at corner. The Patriots came up with the blueprint to beat us last year of getting our nickel and dime on the field every down when we really only went 2 deep at the position, expect us to be a lot better than dead last against the pass this season.
Chad Greenway at WLB and EJ Henderson at mike in place of Napoleon Harris and a probable 3 way battle to play alongside Darren Sharper (Dwight Smith, Tank Williams, Mike Doss) are the only other changes to the D.
Offense looks much improved. Loads of questions at WR and with a practically rookie QB that could be difficult. I'd expect us to adopt the same 30-35 rushes a game as we did last year, though with Peterson splitting time with Chester Taylor it might be a bit more exciting to watch.
Like I said loads of questions about the WR's, probably starting will be Williamson and the rookie Rice, with Bobby Wade most likely in the slot. T
heres a lot of talent there Williamson has shown a lot of signs of improvement this offseason so he'll get this year to show he's not a complete bust.
By all accounts Rice would have been a likely top10 pick had he stayed in school another year. He's very young, 20 maybe just gone 21 so wouldn't expect much this year. Wade was the best WR on Tenn last year even though Bennett got the bigger bucks..."
