".....How will the Broncos do this year? Its a key year(2) for Cutler. If he does well we'll make the playoffs no problem and I would predict a sb in a year or two. You never know tho, I wasn't as impressed as most with him. As for pickups etc, I'm never worried because the Bronco organization is in the top 2-3 and will always make the correct moves. Our backup is Ramsey, and it might be a good fit if Cutler fails or is injured. We don't need much @ QB, and he's a Tulane man so plenty of brains.
As for our division, without looking @ the schedules (its too early for that), I'd put us as slight value. It was a pretty big mistake to let Schottenheimer go. And then after he's gone they pickup Norv Turner, is this some bizarre world where up is down and left is right? My other team is the Cowboys, so its not like I should have a bias against him, but he is a bad head coach. Maybe he wasn't a great coordinator and just happened to be coaching one of the greatest teams in history.
If the Broncos are good this year then we'll sweep the Chiefs easy. I try and not be too optimistic on the Broncos, but we're maybe the best long term team around. So even if I don't think we'll be good we'll still be decent because our team is run so well.
We merged with the NFL 1970, the first 3 years were losing seasons, since then we've had 5 losing years. So in the past 33 we've had 5 losing seasons. Hard to believe the Miami offence won't be better than last year. Mainly because the play calling should be 100% improved. Not sure how long Green will last at QB but Beck should be closer to playing than most QBs out of college.
Defensively I'm not so sure - they might go backwards. Jason Taylor was astounding last season - asking a lot for another year like that although Porter should take some pressure off him. Holliday also had a career year and has his contract now. Traylor surely only has a few games left now, Zac Thomas is knocking on a bit as well and the secondary looks patchy. think the most important thing for us is the fact we haven't lost any coaches this off-season (yet) - the biggest problem for us since our last Superbowl win has been losing Charlie Weis (who IMO was the best OC in the league), and Romeo Crennel in 2005, and then losing Mangini last summer.
The guys who stepped in have been adequate replacements (in Dean Pees' case, he's been a real 'find'), although Josh McDaniels is still learning himself, but you can't vouch for the upheavel things like that bring. Hopefully this area finding stability will help us this coming season.
As for the playing side, I think the only thing I could have asked for more since the draft, trades, FA signings etc, would have been the second coming of Teddy J to play at ILB. Aside from that, Brandon Meriweather was the one real player the majority of Pats fans wanted us to draft (realistically speaking - no doubt there were hoards of people screaming for Calvin Johnson) by reading Patriots fan forums, and the second Eugene Wilson goes down (that's if he isn't moved to CB), 'Hit stick' will be in the team and won't leave.
I quite like the Kareem Brown pick, our front 3 is awesome, and Jarvis is a good guy to take a few reps as too is Mike Wright, but we struggled in the AFCCG (put it down to illness, clever play by the Colts O whatever), and we do need capable guys to take the pressure off the starting three and keep that D fresh. It doesn't help having an old LB core either, which is where we really struggled in Indy once the going got tough, and we do need youth and athleticism inside eventually. We're not going to get it this year (I say that, Lua could end up having an immense rookie season), because we've drafted 1 ILB and chosen to resign Junya and Chad 'uh oh' Brown. We've got draft picks in abundance next season though, and although I would have been more inclined to take someone like David Harris this year and give him a year behind TB and Junya, I'm not a 3 time Superbowl winning HC.
